Congratulations to Dr. Camille Cohen for receiving a Nephro-transplantation Projects grant from the SFNDT – French-Speaking Society of Nephrology, Dialysis and Transplantation

A nephrologist, researcher, and head of the “Kidney Diseases and Monoclonal Immunoglobulins” team at the CRI – Research Center on Inflammation, Dr. Camille Cohen is also the co-coordinator of FHU INFIRE.

What is the objective of the awarded project?

The InProgCKD project aims to decipher early inflammatory signals in the kidneys and how interactions between renal cells contribute to the development of renal fibrosis, a key stage in the progression of chronic kidney disease (CKD).

Why is this important?

CKD affects 1 in 10 people worldwide and could become the 5th leading cause of death by 2040.

By combining molecular and histopathological analyses with clinical data from biopsies, InProgCKD seeks to identify new predictive markers of progression and potential innovative therapeutic targets.

This work could pave the way for novel approaches to prevent irreversible deterioration of renal function, both in transplantation and chronic kidney disease.

Congratulations again to Camille Cohen for this award and for his promising contribution to research in nephrology, dialysis, and transplantation!
